Jerry Schneider received the 2012 North Dakota Association of Technology Leaders (NDATL) Technology Leader of the Year for large schools award for his enthusiastic promotion of the use of technology in the classroom.  Jerry received the award during the annual spring Face-to-Face conference in Bismarck.

Jerry is the Instructional Technology Coach at the Fargo North High School where he develops mentoring relationships with teachers as he introduces tools that will help meet classroom standards.  Jerry’s nomination cited his ability to design and implement technology customized for each teacher, match technology to classroom lessons, and his presentation of “Tech Tuesday” seminars for North faculty and staff. In his time between District responsibilities, Jerry is also the webmaster for the Eastern Dakota Conference.

Frank Egan received the 2012 NDATL Teacher Techie award for his innovation in the use of technology in his classroom. Frank is an Information Technology instructor at the Sheyenne Valley Area Career and Technology Center who has been instrumental in implementing a program to serve the Veteran community.  The Enderlin VFW club funded the program which allowed his students to build computers as a part of their classroom activities. He and his students travelled to the Veteran’s Home in Lisbon where they installed the machines and provided instruction to the veterans on how to use Facebook, Skype and email.

Tim Keckler received the 2012 NDATL Technology Leader of the Year for small schools award for his leadership and guidance in technology including his district’s one-to-one laptop initiative.  Tim has been the Technology Coordinator at the Northern Cass School District for more than 17 years. He provides technology support, repair and maintenance, and professional development for the district and for the past 8 years has been instrumental in the success of a laptop initiative for students and staff in grades 10-12. In addition to support, expertise, and training, Mr. Keckler created a student-run help desk where students receive extensive training and high school credit through the School-to-Work program. What makes Mr. Keckler special is his positive attitude and willingness to support students and teachers in technology needs.
